“It is spring fever. That is what the name of it is. And when you’ve got it, you want–oh, you don’t know quite what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so!”
On this 4 day/3 night retreat we will restore mind, body and soul with Meditation Practices, Mindful Breathwork (Pranayama), Mindful Movement, Gentle Vinyasa and Yin Yoga. This retreat will focus on bringing awareness to the body and mind and bringing balance and harmony into your daily life, with the intention to also incorporate a period of silence, to provide the space to deepen your mindfulness practice without distraction or external stimulation.
Our practice each day will be enhanced by:
- The sound of the ocean and beach nearby
- Learn the Art and Science of Raja Yoga
- Practice Hatha Yoga (postures), Karma Yoga (service), and Bhakti Yoga (heart)
- Enjoy delicious organic vegan/vegetarian meals
- Time for optional massage available by appointment
- Connect to your body and breath
- Restore your spirit
- Soothe your mind with mindful meditation practices
- The relaxed nature of the weekend – nothing is compulsory, do as little, or as much, as you please
- A rare, golden chance to fully rest your mind
- Periods of personal time for walks, reading, chatting, relaxing, retreating – it’s your choice
- Tools to take home for meditation practice in a workshop setting
This is your opportunity to embark on four days of tranquillity aimed at helping you achieve inner peace, wellness and joy like you’ve never experienced before. Do something just for yourself this year, rediscover a new you!
Yoga is a philosophy and a practice which allows us to unite the body, mind and spirit. No matter what your background, body shape or level of fitness yoga can help you find a state of harmony as well as improve your physical condition.
“Vinyasa” means “linking” which in this context means that the poses are linked together in a flowing sequence. The movement is linked with the breath and the mind, body, and spirit are linked as a whole. It is a creative and intelligent flow style with an emphasis on alignment and safety.
The atmosphere created in class is focused, meditative and joyful. Vinyasa Flow is perfectly suited to all levels of practice so no matter where you start it is always possible to make your body feel and move better.
Yin Yoga the gentle path to inner balance. Experience deep immersion and letting go by holding a posture for 4-8 minutes. Direct your attention inward, observe your thoughts, and be present. Breath, meditation and posture merge into a deep, liberating, and wholesome yoga practice.
Meditation can be defined as a set of techniques that are intended to encourage a heightened state of awareness and focused attention.
Research has shown that meditation can have both physiological and psychological effects. Some of the positive physiological effects include a reduced respiration rate, decreased heart rate, changes in brain wave patterns and lowered stress. Some of the other psychological, emotional, and health-related benefits of meditation include:
- Increased self-awareness
- Better stress management skills
- Improved emotional well-being
- Better management of symptoms of conditions including anxiety disorders, depression, sleep disorders, pain issues, and high blood pressure
- Improvement in working memory and fluid intelligence
- Changes in different aspects of attention
We stay at Tallow Beach Houses, a private 30 acre sanctuary where the beach and the bush come together on the edge of the National Park. Situated halfway between the famous Byron Bay lighthouse and Broken Head with 630 meters of beachfront, uncrowded waves, the friendly wildlife, a tranquil lake and a bicycle track into Byron township complete the scene.
Byron Bay is situated on the most easterly point of Australia and is known for its deep connection to nature, culture and community. Tourists, travellers and yogis have been making their way to Byron Bay for decades, eager to soak in the golden sunshine, explore the pristine beaches and national parks and experience a taste of the cultural diversity and nomadic ‘free spirited’ culture that this region is so acclaimed for.
Byron Bay is two hours south of Brisbane Airport or one hour south of Gold Coast airport. Shuttle buses and regular buses make trips to and from these airports numerous times each day.
Accommodation is in 2 or 3-bedroom private beachfront cottages situated within a nature reserve and natural bush setting. Self-contained and secluded, each cottage has its own private kitchen/dining/living space and large undercover deck. Some cottages overlook the lake and the beach is just 60 meters away so you can enjoy a great night’s sleep to the hypnotic sound of the ocean. Each bedroom has its own bathroom and you can choose between single or share accommodation.
